Indonesian Particles of Speech: Kok & Dong

 -

Indonesians inject a lot of particles in their day-to-day speech. At first, it might seem like these random sounding syllables (lah, lho, kok, dong, etc) don't mean anything, but they actually convey SO MUCH and add much-needed nuance into a sentence. In this webinar, we're going to unpack a couple of them!

ABOUT ME

Hi! Yes, my actual name is Lauren (maybe not the most Indonesian-sounding name, but I swear it's my real name!).

I am a 26 year old native Indonesian. Back in high school, I was lucky enough to study abroad in the US as part of Rotary International's Student Exchange Program. And sol, I decided to pursue a degree in English Literature, and as of now, I'm a junior member of Indonesia's Translator Association (Himpunan Penerjemah Indonesia) and have spent the past couple years paving a career as a simultaneous and consecutive interpreter for various seminars, workshops, meetings, and webinars.

Given my passion for language learning, I started Indonesian with Lauren back in September 2022 on Instagram and TikTok, and to my pleasant surprise, the reception has been overwhelmingly heartwarming!
